JoakesI actually mailed the support address and got a reply from Paavo a few hours later. You have to follow a link to get a coupon. Then when you buy HB you input the coupon reference ang get your discount. Phew!Cheers,JerrySame experience here. Also, the login for the download is a bit confusing. Login name is your real name (Not your email address), and who would think that 'Customer ID' is actually the order number from the invoice? Tried a few combinations before I hit on the right one. Is it too much to ask for the 'order number' to be called, well, the order number?!Finally, am I correct that the Windows download is only in 32 bit? (In addition to a 32bit demo, that was all I saw for Windows in the DLs area.
On the OSX side, there seems to only be a 64 bit release). I haven't read all of the forum threads, so maybe there's some technical explanation for this, and I'm just out of the loop.? There is no difference in the DSP in 32bit and 64 builds.

It's exactly the same, being 64 bit floating pointarithmetic data paths.cheers,Paavo.' I can't wait to get the upgrade!!!! DavidJerry, this link of which you speak, Was it sent to you in the support reply?I see nothing on the web site, I also sent support a message but have received nothingyet, thanks,I'm not Jerry, but Ican answer your question. If you didn't receive an email with the upgrade info (and it seems that quite a few didn't - myself included - then you need to contact Harbal tech support.
Bandontherun19My harbal works well? Why should I spend the money for the upgrade? It's a major upgrade for a piece of software that you like, and it's only $30. You'll have the current version and you'll be supporting a talented software developer.Did I mention it's only $30?If you're struggling financially, then, obviously save your money. Otherwise, see if there's a demo and just try it out. And, no, you might not need it, but it's very possible that the new features can make your mixing/mastering easier or more enjoyable. It's up to you whether or not you think that's worth $30. I never got the e-mail, even though I have used 2.3 for years. The support link on their site asks you to download some crapware CAPTCHA program to finalize your communication. I went on the net and connected to their forum where I found an e-mail address for support.
I sent them my name and my old e-mail account and a few ripe comments about how ridiculously complicated this has to be.All I got back was an e-mail from Earle telling me to use something else. He was resentful that I would suggest that there was ANY problem with their communication! That seems to be at odds with other comments on this forum.Basically - He told me to Go To Hell!Seriously guys, this is a 'convenience' program.
It's nice for a quick tweak on a premaster. These people seem to think that they are God's gift to engineers!Oh well, one less thing to worry about.but I would think twice about a company that sends you WACKY e-mails and takes 7 years to upgrade at twice the cost of the original program. Just sayin'.I was flabbergasted.
OK, I can accept that. I don't listen to or master any rap or hip-hop so I only know of this fellow peripherally.Having said that, I do know people who are well known and vastly talented and don't act like ass-hats.I dumped HarBal from our workstations and will use GlissEQ 3 for dynamic EQ. It seems like a nice interface, is a fraction of the cost and is a plug-in. Now that I am forever banned from upgrading my 99 dollar 7 year old program that I didn't use that much, I am cerainly not going to pay 175 bucks to line the pockets of some some famous guy who seems to hate me.I recently picked up Steven Slate's FG-X that is in the same general street-price range as HarBal 3.
If you want to put the finishing touch's on a Demo mix and crank out a quick and REALLY nice sounding mp3 it is a HUGE time saver and much cheaper than other 'finalizing' software. THAT is my idea of money well spent!
